Family raises money for liver transplant
MOULTRIE, Ga. — The intended focus of Valentine’s Day is love, and one Moultrie family is expressing its love by seeking help in getting their brother a liver transplant.
Eddie Harrison Jr. has been battling liver cancer since last year and is currently on the list for a liver transplant, according to his sister, Sheri Klause.
The Harrison family has done their best raising money for their brother through different fundraising projects, including raffles, yard sales, donation jars and starting a YouCaring fund.
“The community has been so gracious with giving,” Klause said. “They’ve donated furniture and yard sale items for us to sell..they’ve been so wonderful.”
Harrison worked for Colquitt County for 20 years with the roads and bridges department but left his job after he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease.
He currently travels to the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Fla., for doctor’s appointments and treatments.
“We’re praying that something will happen pretty soon for him,” Klause said.
Klause said her brother is a diabetic with a low blood count which makes his condition even worse. The family is staying hopeful his condition will improve.
“We just want to say thank you to the community, for everything they’ve done to help,” Klause said.
