Arts Center: Something for everyone this holiday season

Tuesday, December 5th  5:30 PM – 7:30 PM: Ladies, are you looking for a new piece of jewelry to add to your collection? Guys, looking for a one of a kind, hand crafted gift for your love? Do you have something unique you’d like to make into a keepsake, such as a special stone, pressed flower, or a button from a special day? Try your hand at resin art and pour your own pendant and ring. Resin is an epoxy that can be tinted with acrylics, inks, and oils. In the studio, you can choose your favorite colors and materials for a custom-made piece. Join Kim Yarbrough for a reboot of her Last Thursday workshop! $30 includes one pendant and one ring.  No experience necessary. Note: Resin has a 48 hour cure time, so the finished jewelry will be picked up at a later date.

Saturday, December 9th from 10 AM until Noon: Kaleidoscope Kids will enjoy creative holiday activities including painting a picture to celebrate our downtown lights, decorate cookies and make an ornament or two. Children in PreK-5th grade are welcome to join the fun for only $10 per child. Kaleidoscope Kids members participate for free. To sign up –drop by the Art Center and register your child no later than Wednesday, December 6th.

That same afternoon the Colquitt County Arts Center dancers will join the Rose City Ballet to perform the ballet Sleeping Beauty on Saturday, December 9th at the Thomasville Municipal Auditorium with performances at 2:00 p.m. & 6:00 p.m. Tickets are $10 (available at the door & at Rose City Ballet studios) and Children 3 & under are free.

Also on Saturday, December 9th we will once again offer the very popular Fluid Art Acrylic Pouring Workshop. The Intro to Pouring Art will be offered from 10 AM until Noon for $45. Taking Acrylic Pouring to the Next Level will be offered that afternoon from 1:30-4:30 for $65 person. Save by registering for both at a cost of only $95.00 . In addition to learning the various Fluid Art techniques, participants will learn mindfulness breathing exercises as well as meditation to enhance creativity exercises. In the next level course participants will also practice Progressive Muscle Tension Relaxation and Mediation for Pain management.

You won’t want to miss Gunner on the Grand as Gunner Chancey entertains us with a Lesson in Carols on Thursday, December 14th at 7:30 following the Christmas Parade. Come and wind down from all the excitement, relax and enjoy some beautiful Christmas music. Tickets are only $10 and light refreshments will be served.

And remember to support local artists through our Holiday Shoppe where you will find a variety of beautiful handmade times including original art, jewelry, carved glass, wood turned bowls, ornaments and so much more.

We hope to see you soon at your Colquitt County Arts Center — where creativity finds community.
