Publix donation puts United Way over campaign goal

MOULTRIE, Ga. — When the United Way of Colquitt County celebrated the end of its fundraising campaign last fall and thanked all of its volunteers, the charity had not met its goal of $525,000. Officials announced on Nov. 29 that they had raised $506,792 toward the goal.

The United Way also welcomed Moultrie’s new Publix store to the campaign, but at that time they didn’t have the results from Publix. Now their totals are in: The store raised $46,549 for the United Way campaign.

With the firm numbers, the campaign total is now $538,738, which is 102 percent of the goal.

Campaign chair Brad Gregory, stated, ‘I’m excited that we were able to exceed our goal and feel very fortunate to have partners like Publix who invest in our community.’
