Castle to speak at black history program Saturday
MOULTRIE, Ga. — Friendship Missionary Baptist Church will hold its annual black history program at 3 p.m. Saturday with the theme: “Rooted in Faith, Anchored in Hope.”
The Rev Freddie Castle, a native of Houma, La., will be the speaker. Castle, currently pastor at Mother Easter Baptist Church, began his career as a youth minister while living in Houston, and received a bachelor of science degree from Grambling State University in Grambling, La., before earning a master’s degree in divinity at the Morehouse School of Religion at the Interdenominational Theological Center in Atlanta.
Castle earned clinical pastoral experience from Georgia Baptist Medical Center in Atlanta and the Professional Institute for Chaplaincy Development, National Baptist Convention, U.S.A. Inc.
After relocating to Norman Park, Castle worked as an associate pastor at Mother Easter, was pastor for 10 years at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Tifton, and in July 2009 came to lead the congregation at Mother Easter.
He is married to Margie A. Huckaby Castle, and they have five children. Castle also is employed as clinical chaplain at Telfair State Prison.
During the Saturday program Mother Easter’s choir will perform along with the deacons. Other churches also will participate.
