South Ga. attorneys re-elected to state bar’s Board of Governors

AMELIA ISLAND, Fla. — Christopher F. West of Chris F. West P.C. in Thomasville and H. Burke Sherwood of Sherwood & Sherwood P.C. in Valdosta were re-elected to serve on the Board of Governors of the 50,000-member State Bar of Georgia and were installed June 9 during the organization’s Annual Meeting.

West will continue to serve in the Southern Judicial Circuit, Post 1 seat on the board, representing Brooks, Colquitt, Echols, Lowndes and Thomas counties. He earned his law degree from the Jones School of Law at Faulkner University and was admitted to the State Bar of Georgia in 2011. He serves as general counsel for Teramore Development LLC in Thomasville.

Sherwood will continue to serve in the Post 3 seat from the Southern Circuit. He is a graduate of John Marshall Law School and joined the State Bar in 1999. His firm’s practice areas include family law, personal injury, real estate law, criminal law and probate law. He is a past president of the Valdosta Bar Association, the Valdosta Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Georgia Legal Services Program Board of Directors.

The Board of Governors is the 160-member policymaking authority of the State Bar, with representation from each of Georgia’s judicial circuits. The board holds regular meetings at least four times per year.
