MOULTRIE — Since about 1979, Neighborhood Watch initiatives have been a constant throughout the years in Moultrie and Colquitt County. The Moultrie Police Department has spearheaded them sometimes and the Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office has spearheaded them at other times.

The most recent initiative is being spearheaded by the Sheriff’s Office with the goal of launching Neighborhood Watch groups across the county. The first meeting will be held Sept. 5, at 6 p.m., at the Sheriff’s Office (the Criminal Justice Center) in the upstairs courtroom.

“We cannot achieve this without your involvement. This meeting is your opportunity to learn more about how you can contribute to this initiative and make a real difference in our community,” said Sheriff Rod Howell, who said it was a top priority for him.
