Colquitt County High swimmer Destiny Avery receives her official Point University Skyhawks athletic gear from head swimming coach Derek Kite Wednesday. Avery signed with Kite’s swimming program at the NAIA school in West Point. Also part of the occasion were Destiny’s grandparents Barbara and Jim Avery and swimming coach Link Whittaker. Kite said that while the Point University swimming program began four years ago, he came on board last August. He guided the men’s and women’s swimmers to the NAIA national championships held Feb. 27-March 2 at the Columbus Aquatics Center, and four of his female swimmers set school records.
