TIFTON — The Grammy-nominated group Smalltown Poets is coming to Tifton July 27 at the Howard Auditorium at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, according to a press release.

Smalltown Poets formed in Tifton in 1996, the release states.

Along with two Grammy award nominations, the group has also had seven Dove Award nominations (including Best New Artist) and a Billboard Music video award.

Opening for Smalltown Poets is Brittany Dené Braswell of Albany. Braswell is working on releasing her first album and will sing a selection of contemporary Christian songs as well as a couple of popular Gospel tunes.

According to the release, show promoter Austin Martin wanted to bring a show with a positive message. He believes Smalltown Poets is the perfect group to do that.

“I am super excited about this event,” said Martin in the release. “It is going to be a great night of worship and fun for the entire family.”The doors open at 6 p.m. and the show will begin at 7 p.m.

Tickets can be purchased at itickets.com/events/427830 or at Barberitos in Tifton, according to the release. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Pink Heals Tifton/Tift County, whose mission is to provide communities with a program that supports people on a personal level in partnership with public safety, medical professionals and local businesses.
