Rants and Raves

Right on

“Your editorial about political apathy was right on. People gripe and claim to have all the answers but yet they don’t vote. And I particularly liked the reference to flag waving and respect for those whose names are on that monument. They have secured our democracy but yet, we take that for granted. People are appalled that someone takes a knee at a ballgame in protest relative to something they strongly believe in, but only 9 percent of the registered voters in our county turned out in the last election. What hypocrisy! We must be reminded of this routinely.

A motive?

“I guess there’s a motive for letting the crepe myrtles hide the beauty of our courthouse and the Confederate monument. Any response?

Billboards

“I drove to Atlanta this weekend. And after reading Walden’s columns about the billboards, I must have read every billboard along I-75. Wow! The power of suggestion.

“We continue to have illegal dumping in our county.  Mindless people drive into the edge of fields and wooded lanes and discard tires, old furniture and other garbage. These are people I hope do not vote. They could not make an intelligent decision.

A bit angry

“Do other people get angry when they read that our hospital parking lot is being resurfaced? What about the bad railroad tracks, highways in the city, dirt roads? Maybe it is just me that sees this is not right … my tax dollars going down the drain. I love my hospital but this is money wasted!

School issues

“The Observer needs to sell papers, that’s a fact! But you don’t have to continue to put everything that is causing a rift between schools in the paper. Freedom of speech is one thing but peace of a community is another. We are building relationships not tearing them down. If you can’t help don’t hinder. Learn to think before speaking.

Wake up call

“The last election should be a wake up call for the citizens of Colquitt County. You complain, but when there’s a chance to make a difference you sit home . Stop complaining, because things in your section of the community go undone. You had the chance to vote but chose to let someone who saw a need to vote!

Inhumane!

“Someone dropped off a mama dog and puppies. How ignorant! How inhumane!
