Hill accepts appointment to state committee

MOULTRIE — Colquitt County Board of Education member Trudie M. Hill, a retired educator, has been selected to serve on the 2024 Georgia School Boards Association Governmental Operations Committee.

Hill has served the school district and the Colquitt County community for many years. She began her service on the Board of Education in June of 2004 and has given her time and talents locally and at the state level on many occasions.

“The Georgia School Boards Association is honored to have Mrs. Trudie Hill of the Colquitt County Board of Education on the Governmental Operations Committee,” said Valarie Wilson, executive director of GSBA.

The GSBA president annually makes appointments to this committee after considerable deliberation with the staff and Board of Directors, the association said in a press release. As a member of this committee, Hill will represent the local school board and the interests of all of Georgia’s school boards.

The responsibilities of the GOC are considerable, and the committee’s role is critical to education, the press release said. GOC members will offer recommendations for legislative positions to be voted on at the 2024 Georgia School Boards Association Summer Conference and Delegate Assembly in Savannah, Georgia, in June.

Superintendent Dan Chappuis shared, “Mrs. Hill has established herself as a true advocate for students and staff alike. She is purposeful and gracious in her efforts to continue to serve and represent the Colquitt County School District at the state level. We are very fortunate to have Mrs. Hill representing the district.”

Hill shared her thoughts on her appointment, “It is with great honor that I again accept the appointment to serve on the GSBA Governmental Operations Committee. This opportunity is just one of the ways I can fulfill the district’s commitment to our mission of Growing All Students Locally to Lead Globally. When we come together with different perspectives, it helps us all grow.”
