Colquitt County Farm Bureau receives 2 district awards

MACON, Ga. – Colquitt County Farm Bureau (CCFB) received two awards for its volunteer programs during the Georgia Farm Bureau (GFB) 9th District annual meeting, held Oct. 17 in Camilla. Stanley Bass is the CCFB president.

The CCFB Young Farmers & Ranchers Committee, chaired by Preston Jimmerson, received the 9th District Outstanding Young Farmers & Ranchers Program Award.

Among its activities during the past year, the committee sponsored a luncheon for graduating senior members of the Colquitt County FFA. CCFB hosted the event, during which the CCFB scholarship was presented. A total of 32 students and three teachers attended. Each student received a gift and information about Farm Bureau membership.

Jimmerson and his wife, Kendall, received the 9th District Young Farmers & Ranchers Achievement Award, which recognizes farmers between the ages of 18 and 35 who earn the majority of their income from production agriculture. The Jimmersons own and operate Moss Family Farms, growing cotton, peanuts, corn and cabbage.

The GFB 9th District includes 14 counties in southwestern Georgia.
