Hamilton Elementary to receive $10,000 grant from Monsanto
MOULTRIE, Ga. — Hamilton Elementary School of the Colquitt County School System has been named a $10,000 grant recipient for the America’s Farmers Grow Rural Education program, sponsored by the Monsanto Fund.
The school system celebrated with a check-presentation ceremony Sept. 14 at Hamilton Elementary. The school plans to use the grant to create an outdoor classroom environment where students can have direct experience and learn in a real world outdoor setting as they care for and grow plants and animals, which will have a significant impact on the students and community, according to a press release from the school.
Back row from left are Principal Krista Harrell, Assistant Superintendent James Harrell, School Superintendent Doug Howell, Board of Education members Pat Anderson and Trudie Hill, STEM teacher Justin McDowell and Monsanto representative Jason Pittman. In front were students in character from a performance that was part of the check presentation event.
