MOULTRIE, Ga. — In one of several recent reports of violence, a Moultrie man told police that an acquaintance approached him while he was walking, pulled out a knife and threatened his life.
Richard Hadley, 51, told police that at about 2:06 a.m. he was walking near the intersection of North Main Street and First Avenue Northwest.
Hadley reported that the man was walking toward him. He was talking to himself and then approached. The man then confronted him, pulled a knife and told Hadley that he was going to kill him.
Hadley told police that the man then ran away. Hadley then walked to the police department and reported the attack.
Police did not locate the suspect.
On Friday, a Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office deputy made an arrest in a police case from a July 4 incident in which a woman reported being assaulted at a Moultrie nightclub.
Monique Neal, 37, told police that a male acquaintance was arguing with her friend at the Jackpot, 2427 S. Main St., at about 1:15 a.m. When Neal tried to separate the two and calm the situation the man started hitting her in the face.
When police spoke with George Wallace he said that Neal cut his hand and that he was struck first.
Police searched a car for weapons and found no cutting devices.
A witness told police that Neal did not start the argument.
Neal had a knot on her forehead and bruising on her face, police said.
She initially told police that she did not wish to press charges, but later returned to the Moultrie Police Department, where she said that she had changed her mind.
Police took a warrant for Wallace’s arrest, and on Friday the deputy arrested him 6496 Adel Road residence. Wallace, 40, was charged with battery.
On Thursday deputies arrested Raiford Scott Lane in a domestic violence incident at the residence of Stacey Hernandez in the 4000 block of Highway 111.
Deputies responded at about 11:30 a.m. to a report of a domestic dispute.
Hernandez told police that Lane appeared to be intoxicated and charged toward her. He punched her multiple times in the chest, she reported. When she tried to leave he took the keys to her car and kicked the driver’s door.
Witnesses reported that Lane also took a swing at Elsa McCracken and struck Johnie McCracken in the elbow with a frying pan.
Emergency medical personnel checked all three victims at the scene, police said.
Lane, 31, 925 John Buck McCoy Road, was charged with battery, criminal trespass, simple assault, simple battery and two counts cruelty to children.
