Lions buy tickets for veterans
MOULTRIE, Ga. — The Moultrie Lions Club bought several of the tickets for the March 2 Grand Ole Opry tribute show and gave them to sick or injured veterans — the people most likely to need the Veterans Express Bus’s service — and bus volunteers so they can go to the show for free.
Tickets for the show are $20 each and available from Mashburn Printing, the Moultrie-Colquitt County Chamber of Commerce and Everything Special. Proceeds will go toward replacing the Veterans Express Bus, which takes veterans from across South Georgia to the Lake City, Fla., VA hospital every Thursday. The bus was bought new about 15 years ago and now has roughly 200,000 miles on it.
Lion Mike Arnold recently presented the tickets to veteran volunteer Andy Cashwell to distribute. From left are Norma Lauderdale, Ron Horn, James Barfield, Andy Cashwell and Mike Arnold.
