Busy Bee adding Tesla superchargers to hive

LIVE OAK, Fla. — Busy Bee is adding to its hive.

The Live Oak Busy Bee location is now the proud home to 12 new Tesla Supercharger Stations.

The stations should be up and running this week, according to Megan Forcey, Busy Bee’s Director of Advertising and E-Commerce

“As the future of transportation evolves, we want to make sure we evolve with it,” Forcey said about Busy Bee’s desire to team with Tesla for the charging stations.

Tesla is an American automaker that specializes in electric cars, selling more than 186,000 electric cars worldwide from 2008 through December 2016.

Tesla has superchargers in nearly every state in the continental United States — there are currently no stations in North Dakota — and is in the process of adding many more to those locations.

That is where the local Busy Bee entered the picture.

“We reached out to Tesla because we felt like we were in an area where they weren’t being reached,” Forcey said.

She added that there are currently no charging stations on Interstate 10 between Tallahassee and Jacksonville.

There is a supercharger location in Lake City on U.S. Highway 90 near I-75.

Forcey said after applying for Superchargers, Tesla sent a representative to Busy Bee to view the property and make sure the property will be able to host their guests while waiting.

It takes approximately 45 minutes to charge.
