GOP ‘Meet the Candidates Cookout’ is Monday in Whitfield County
DALTON, Ga. — Interested citizens have an opportunity on Monday to meet and hear from Republican Party candidates in the July 24 primary runoff and the Nov. 6 general election.
The Whitfield County Republican Party and the Northwest Georgia Young Republicans host a “Meet the Candidates Cookout” from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Burr Performing Arts Park, 101 S. Hamilton St. in Dalton.
“We think it’s going to be really special,” said Whitfield County GOP Chairman Dianne Putnam. “We are holding it downtown for the first time, and the Burr Park is so neat.”
The public is invited.
Putnam said that all Republican candidates for federal, state and local offices have been invited. Candidates for state office who have confirmed, Putnam said, are Secretary of State Brian Kemp, who faces Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle in the primary runoff for governor; David Belle Isle, who faces Brad Raffensperger in the primary runoff for secretary of state; and Public Service Commission member Tricia Pridemore.
Hot dogs and hamburgers will be grilled, and plates with baked beans, slaw, potato salad and banana pudding will be sold for $10.
“The meals will also have tea, lemonade or water,” Putnam said.
The musical group The Shepherds will perform.
“They are a family that performs patriotic music and spiritual and gospel music. They are great,” said Putnam.
