Youth acting camp ready for summer
VALDOSTA – “Mary Poppins Returns” meets “Aladdin” at the 2019 Broadway camp.
Amanda’s Models and Talent hosts the camp 8:30 a.m.-noon, July 15-18, old Valdosta High School Performing Arts Center, 3101 N. Forrest St.
The camp is for kids ages 4 1/2 and up.
Youth will take the stage at the PAC, 6 p.m. Thursday, July 18, and perform for the community.
“Mary Poppins Returns” and “Aladdin” were chosen because of their music and messages, said Amanda Kirk, Amanda’s Models and Talent owner.
AMT has hosted the camp for the past 16 years, and Kirk said it’s held to build confidence in children.
“We want them to believe in themselves and realize that how they’re made is exactly how they’re supposed to made and they need to celebrate through the arts,” she said.
Different from last year, Tammy Eunice of the James Eunice Charity Fund will speak.
Early drop-off is 8:15 a.m. and late pick-up ends 12:45 p.m. Kids will need to bring snacks each day, according to organizers.
The camp caps at 100 participants with a $100 registration fee per person. Photo shoots are provided. The registration deadline is July 15.
