Williams Tabernacle to host 68th annual Mammoth Tea
MOULTRIE, Ga. — The pastor, officers, and members of Williams Tabernacle C.M.E. Church will celebrate their 68th Annual Mammoth Tea at 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11.
The speaker for the occasion will be the Rev. Freddie Williams Jr., pastor of Union Missionary Baptist Church here in Moultrie. The Union Baptist Choir will render the music.
This year’s theme is “A Legacy of Faith: Lord, you have been our dwelling place throughout all generations” from Psalm 90.
The Mammoth Tea Program was developed and organized under the leadership of the late Rev. M.C. Pettigrew. This special event promotes a cultural and religious campaign in the church and community, according to a press release from the church. It also gives the members the opportunity to fellowship and partner with the people in the community.
The keynote speaker, Pastor Freddie Williams Jr., is a native of Sylvester. He is the son of the late Freddie Williams Sr. and Essie Williams of that city. He was educated in Worth and Dougherty counties. Presently he is attending The South Georgia Academy for Protestant Ministers in Moultrie.
Williams served his country during the Vietnam War by serving in the United States Marine Corps.
In 2011, Williams was called to preach under the leadership of the late Pastor C.L. Williams. He was called to be the pastor of Union Missionary Baptist Church on Oct. 14, 2014.
Williams is married to Sylvia Pittman Williams, and they have seven children (five sons and two daughters); six grandchildren (all girls); and three goddaughters.
The public is cordially invited to attend this special event.
