17-year-old dies in crash on Sam Sells Road
MOULTRIE, Ga — A 17-year-old driver was killed Friday morning after she lost control of her car and collided with a farm tractor.
Maleah Scarberry was pronounced dead at the scene on Sam Sells Road, according to the Georgia State Patrol. The collision occurred in a curve about 0.75 miles from where Sam Sells intersects with Tucker Road.
Scarberry was driving east on Sam Sells Road in a Lincoln MKZ sedan when she partially went off the right side of the roadway, Trooper First Class Grey Shiver said.
“After she ran off the south shoulder she overcorrected and lost control,” he said.
The car began rotating counterclockwise and the collided with the right side of the John Deere tractor with the passenger side of the Lincoln. The car then spun 360 degrees and came to rest on the roadway.
The tractor driver, Jimmy Davis, 78, was in stable condition at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.
