Deputy arrests local man on drug charge
MILLEDGEVILLE — A 28-year-old Milledgeville man, who reportedly jumped out of a vehicle while en route to meet with his probation officer, is again in the custody of local authorities.
But instead of facing a lone criminal charge, the suspect faces two charges after a deputy found him in the possession of illegal drugs in a local motel room.
Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Ashley Brown took Jonathan Sherman Jordan, of Magnolia Avenue, into custody shortly before midnight Wednesday at the Budget Inn on Hancock Street.
Brown had spoken with JAG probation officer Leandra Gordy who was seeking to have Jordan arrested on an outstanding warrant for probation violation.
Gordy explained to the deputy that Jordan was on probation for a drug conviction — smoking synthetic marijuana or Spice K2. While on probation, Jordan reportedly walked out of treatment.
The deputy later talked with Jordan’s father who told him that his son had jumped out of his car as he was driving him to see his probation officer.
Brown later learned that Jordan was possibly staying at the Budget Inn, and an employee later confirmed that Jordan had a room there and where he might be located.
The deputy went to the door of the hotel room and knocked, and seconds later Jordan answered and was immediately handcuffed and detained without incident.
Jordan was charged with Violation of the Georgia Controlled Substances Act for the synthetic marijuana found in his motel room, as well as probation violation.
The deputy discovered a clear plastic bag containing a green leafy substance believed to be synthetic marijuana in the motel room.
Jordan was taken to the Baldwin County Law Enforcement Center and jailed.
