Search underway for Meigs man at Lake Iamonia
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission personnel are searching Lake Iamonia for a missing Meigs, Georgia, man.
By air and water and night and day, a search is underway for 57-year-old Huey Calhoun, said Bekah Nelson, public information director at the Fish & Wildlife’s Panama City office.
Nelson said Fish & Wildlife learned midday Wednesday that Calhoun was missing.
Fish & Wildlife and the Leon County Sheriff’s Office responded.
“A vessel was located within the lake,” Nelson said.
Calhoun’s boat, a 15-foot Tracker Marine, a small aluminum vessel, was found in the 5,757-acre lake in north Leon County. Lake Iamonia is seven miles long and up to two miles wide.
The search is continuing. “
That’s the most important thing,” Nelson said.
