‘Dangerous’ subject caught in Cook County
ADEL — A man described as “dangerous” surrendered to lawmen after a multi-county pursuit that wound up in Cook County, according to authorities.
Deputies from Cook, Turner and Lowndes counties searched Cook for Adam Pagliaro, 41, of Brevard County, Florida, according to a statement from the Cook County Sheriff’s Office. He gave himself up at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the 1500 block of Old Union Road, according to a statement from the Cook County Sheriff’s Office. Charges are not yet available, but there are warrants in Turner County for him, the statement said.
At 7:47 p.m. Wednesday, the Turner County Sheriff’s Office advised the Cook County Sheriff’s Office they were chasing a silver Chevrolet Corvette southbound on Interstate 75 entering Cook County, the statement said. As the pursuit progressed through Cook County the car exited the interstate at Exit 39 and proceeded west on Ga. 37 toward Colquitt County where officers in pursuit lost sight of the Corvette, according to the statement.
At 7 a.m. Wednesday the car was found wrecked and abandoned at a home on Highway 76 in southwest Cook County and Pagliaro was seen along the Old Union Road area, according to the statement. Two guns were found in the car, said J.D. Yeager, auxiliary Lowndes County deputy.
Two people who tried to pick up Pagliaro were arrested by Cook deputies, and the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office’s K9 unit was called for, Yeager said. The Georgia State Patrol sent a search helicopter, he said.
Pagliaro managed to contact a Florida attorney, who contacted a Georgia attorney, and authorities had hoped he would surrender himself when the attorney arrived, Yeager said.
