Informal poll: Many don’t plan to watch impeachment hearings

An online, unscientific poll by CNHI newspapers in 22 Midwest, Southern and Northeast states found almost half (45.58%) of the 1,832 respondents said they don’t plan to watch the open hearings that start Wednesday in the President Trump impeachment inquiry.

More than 77% of the respondents said they do not expect the hearings to change their personal views on the impeachment of Trump.

The U.S. House Intelligence Committee will conduct the first open hearings. They will be televised and live streamed. William Taylor, the top U.S. diplomat in Ukraine, and Deputy Assistant Secretary of State George Kent are scheduled to testify Wednesday. Former U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch is scheduled for the second day of the hearings on Friday.
