Colquitt County Medical Society awards health care professionals

MOULTRIE – The Colquitt County Medical Society recently celebrated excellence in healthcare leadership during its prestigious second annual awards ceremony.

The society recognized three outstanding medical professionals, who have demonstrated exceptional dedication to patient care and community service.

Sterling Physician Group surgeon Dresden Melton Soderstrom, MD presented the Medical Student of the Year award to Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine student Alleluia Nishimwe. This prestigious recognition celebrates emerging medical talent and honors students who demonstrate extraordinary commitment to advancing patient care while pursuing their medical education. Nishimwe’s selection highlights the promising future of healthcare in Colquitt County and beyond, the society said.

Colquitt Regional Health System’s Chief Medical Officer Michael Brown, MD, MBA, FCCP presented the Ellen Sutton Distinguished Service Award to David Spence, RT, who serves as the Director of Diagnostic Imaging at Colquitt Regional. This award recognizes the invaluable contributions of non-physician healthcare professionals who go above and beyond in their service to Colquitt County’s medical community. Spence’s leadership in diagnostic imaging has been instrumental in advancing patient care quality.

Colquitt Regional Medical Center’s Chief of Staff Gary Swartzentruber, MD presented the prestigious D. W. Adcock Physician Distinguished Service Award to Billy Ray Price, MD. Established to recognize exceptional physician leadership, this distinguished honor celebrates medical professionals whose impact extends beyond clinical excellence to embrace true community service.
