Clarifications on PCOM in Moultrie

The following are clarifications to an initial story regarding the choice of Moultrie as the site for a medical college. This information was provided to us by officials of Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine:

• The name of the accrediting agency is the Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (COCA). Bryan Ginn did not submit the application to COCA, but Philadelphia college officials submitted it last Friday. Bryan is the chief campus officer of Georgia Campus – Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Suwanee.

• The Moultrie facility is not a satellite campus of the Georgia campus at Suwanee. It is an additional location of Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM) in Georgia.

• It was stated that residency programs were for three years. The length of residency programs vary depending on the specialty.

• The Georgia Campus in Suwanee was not opened to supply medical professionals to South Georgia, but to Georgia.

• The plan is to educate physicians but not pharmacists and physician assistants.
