Elton Baldy wins state championship at auctioneers contest

CORDELE, Ga. — A Norman Park man was named the Georgia champion in a bid calling contest sponsored by the Georgia Auctioneers Association.

Elton Baldy won the title Jan. 19 at the event, held at Veterans State Park.

Michael Acord of Sylvester was first runner-up, and Keith Yoder of Montezuma was second runner-up.

Frank Trunzo of Plant City, Fla., won the $1,000 grand prize for the Big Peach Classic Award.

“Our annual bid calling contest is focused on giving experienced auctioneers a stage to show off their talents and allow new auctioneers an opportunity to obtain experience performing before a large group in a live auction event,” the Georgia Auctioneers Association said in a press release. “The contest includes an interview portion followed by first round eliminations and a final round to determine the winners.”

Anyone interested in participating in a future bid calling contest can visit http://GeorgiaAuctioneers.org or call (855) 422-0008.
