FCA sends athletes to camps

MOULTRIE — The Colquitt County chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes sent a number of Colquitt County High players to various camps this summer.

“This is an awesome experience and it will change your life,” Packer baseball player Russ DeMott said.

Colquitt County football players were among 500 campers from a number of Southern states who attended a camp at Black Mountain, N.C.

Speakers included Clemson head coach Tommy Bowden and former NFL running back Shaun Alexander.

Packer middle school football coach Jonathan Scroggins was one of the huddle leaders.

Adult FCA member David Durham, First Baptist Church of Doerun Pastor David Benton and Packers assistant coach Dextra Polite also attended.

“Being there has taught me many things, such as praying, worshipping, winning with pride and losing with pride,” Packers wide receiver Quin Roberson said.

The FCA basketball camp was held at Middle Georgia College in Cochran. Packer coach Kervin Davis and Mike Hoffpauir went with the players.

Golf team members attended the elite golf camp at Reynolds Plantation. Anna Leigh Keith claimed the camp championship.
