Edgar Byrd
NORMAN PARK — Edgar Byrd, 64, of Lynch Street, Norman Park, died Friday, Dec. 16, 2005, in Moultrie.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 19, at Young Christian Crusade Church in Irwinville with burial at the Irwinville Cemetery. The Rev. Eddie Dee will officiate, and pallbearers will be Arnold Dell, Robert Partain, Chris Walden, Scott Roberts, Mark Fallin and Sterling Fallin.
Mr. Byrd was born May 3, 1941, in Colquitt County to Roy G. and Winnie Byrd, both deceased. He retired as a truck driver after 34 years. A veteran of the Navy, he was a member of Young Christian Crusade Church.
Survivors include his wife, Lessie Rowell Byrd of Crosland; two sons, Tommy Rowell and wife Charlotte of Louisiana, Mo., and Norman Rowell and wife Cathy of Norman Park; three daughters, Cathy R. Elrod of Moultrie, Susan McCard and husband Bob of Sylvester, and Anna Tillman and husband Robert of Norman Park; two sisters, Marie Beal of Berlin and Lola Mae Bryant of Moultrie; 12 grandchildren, Melanie Myers, Jessica Pryor, Ashley McIntyre, Gary Frey, Jamie Elrod, Michelle May, Joshua Rowell, Kim Harris, Chris McMillan and Leticia, Robyn and Elzie Tillman; and 10 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Michael Rowell; a brother, James B. Byrd; and three sisters, Mildred Truett, Odessa Dennis and Sarah Hall.
Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Sunday at Harrell Faircloth Funeral Home.

Brittany Michelle Huite
MOULTRIE — Brittany Michelle Huite, 18, of Connell Road, Moultrie, died Friday, Dec. 16, 2005, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.
A memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m. today, Dec. 18, at Cobb Funeral Chapel with visitation to follow until 8:30 p.m. The Rev. Carl Felts will officiate. The funeral service will be held at a later date in West Frankfort, Ill., at Union Funeral Home with interment to follow in East Fork Cemetery.
Miss Huite was born July 17, 1987, in Wichita Falls, Texas. A student at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, she was employed at Dairy Queen and Home Depot. A 2005 graduate of Colquitt County High School, she was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church.
Survivors include her mother, Tina Cardwell Felty and husband Mike of West Frankfort, Ill.; her father, Richard Huite and wife Tonya of Moultrie; one brother, Taylor Huite of Moultrie; two sisters, Kaylyn Huite of Moultrie and Shaylee McCalla of West Frankfort, Ill.; a special friend, T.J. Dorminey of Sumner; grandparents, Carl and Mildred Huite of West Frankfort, Ill., Middy and Bill Hebbeler of Zeigler, Ill., and Gene Neibel of Benton, Ill.; stepgrandparents, Connie and Chris Rhames of Moultrie, Vonie and Chris Dean of Lakeland, Fla., Bill and Elaine Ketring of West Frankfort, Ill., and Keith Felty of Marion, Ill.; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Siera Spain; a grandfather, Richard Cardwell; and an uncle, Travis Neibel.

Ann Laverne Hiers
MOULTRIE — Ann Laverne Hiers, 73, of Roberts Road, Moultrie, died Friday, Dec. 16, 2005, at her residence.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 19, at Baker Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Reedy Creek Cemetery. The Rev. Hayward Tomblin and the Rev. Andy Croft will officiate. Casketbearers will be Lee Brooks, Mack Wiard, Nicholas Wright, Chris Mims, Wes Mims and David Anderson.
Mrs. Hiers was born Dec. 10, 1932, in Colquitt County to the late Bert Thomason and the late Ellen Ruth Cody Thomason. She was a member of Reedy Creek Baptist Church, was retired from Hubbell Die Casting and worked at Sunshine Kitchen.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Simmie Hiers Jr., and one brother, Tom Thomason.
Survivors include her mother-in-law, Mary Lou Hiers of Moultrie; a brother-in-law, Edward Hiers of Griffin; one son, Sim Hiers III of Moultrie; daughters, Sue Hogan and husband Richard, Vickie Wright and husband Charles, Ellen McCorvey and husband Ted and Donna Mims and husband Greg, all of Moultrie, Carol Key and husband Wesley of Norman Park, and Cindy Baker and husband Gary of Omega; brothers, Freeman Thomason and Coleman Thomason, both of Doerun; sisters, Lucy Meredeth and Pat Dykes, both of Moultrie, and Nell Barnett and husband Bill of Perry, Fla.; grandchildren, Mindy Hogan, Stephanie Brooks, Nicholas Wright, Laine Anderson, T.J. McCorvey, Kaitlyn Hiers and Wes Mims, all of Moultrie, Michell Dove, Lacee Baker and Melanie Baker, all of Omega, Jennifer Key and Lori Beth Wiard, both of Norman Park, Kimberly McCorvey of Pensacola, Fla., and Chris Mims of England; great-grandchildren, Zachary Sheridan, Tyler Sheridan and Tanner Wright, all of Moultrie, Ava Brooks of Norman Park and Jordan Dove of Omega; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18, at Baker Funeral Home.
