Goodman strong at East Championships
MOULTRIE — Moss Farms diver Kelsey Goodman won a bronze medal and finished sixth in the two events she took part in at last weekend’s 2007 Spring Junior East Championships held in Coral Springs, Fla.
Goodman, diving in the competitive 16-18 girls age group, was third on Saturday in the 1-meter springboard competition, scoring a 334.50.
Bianca Alvarez of Miami was first with a 360.25.
Moss Farms diver Ali Lepech was 10th with a 294.45.
On Sunday, Goodman was sixth on the 3-meter springboard with a 342.90.
Alvarez completed her sweep of the springboards, taking first place with a 420.70.
Anna Aguero of Moss Farms was 12th with a 32.00.
Elizabeth Ann Kirkland also took a bronze medal for her third place finish in the 1-meter springboard event in the 12-13 age group on Friday.
Kirkland turned in a score of 228.10. The event was won by Kentucky Diving’s Rebecca Hamperian, who had a 249.30.
Kirkland also was seventh on the 3-meter board, scoring a 218.60. Hamperian also won that event with a 237.45.
Ann Perry Blank finished fourth in the 14-15 girls 1-meter event, scoring a 267.15.
The event was won by Cherie Hammond of Team Orlando Diving with a 277.05.
Jillian Braun was 26th on the 1-meter board.
Blank was 11th in the 3-meter competition, which also was won by Hammond, who scored a 340.25.
Blank had a 276.45. Braun was 19th with a 261.45.
Moss Farms’ Owen Blank was 12th on the 3-meter board in the boys 16-18 age group an and was 13th on the 1-meter board.
Nick McCrory won the 3-meter board with a 554.20. David Colturi of Legacy Diving ws first with a 493.00.
Camille Kirkland of Moss Farms finished 20th in the 11-and-under girls 1-meter event on Friday. She scored a 126.35.
Stephanie Schlei of the Legacy Diving Association in Northville, Mich., was first with a 212.05.
