Soccer teams get 3 wins, tie
MOULTRIE — The Colquitt County middle school soccer teams remain undefeated after sweeping Valdosta on Monday at Tom White Field at Mack Tharpe Stadium, and the junior varsity teams came away with a victory and a tie at Lowndes.
Rich Tyndall scored three times to lead the Colquitt County middle school boys soccer team to a 6-0 victory over Valdosta.
Brett Holden, Jose Zunun and Octavio Carranza also scored in the match, which Colquitt controlled from the beginning.
The middle school boys are now 2-0.
The Colquitt County middle school girls, who defeated Lowndes 5-0 and Hahira 2-1 on Saturday at home, overcame an early 1-0 deficit to Valdosta before scoring three straight goals to win 3-1.
Lauren Kelshaw tied the game with an unassisted goal just four minutes in.
Before the half was over, Kelshaw had given the Lady Packers a 2-1 lead on her second goal. Laura Hill Bannister got the assist.
Lindsey Causey finished off the scoring with a second-half goal.
The middle school teams will travel to Lee County on Thursday.
The Colquitt County junior varsity boys raised their record to 2-0-1 with their second victory over Lowndes.
After beating the Vikings 2-1 at home in the season-opener, Colquitt administered a 4-0 whipping in Valdosta on Monday.
The JV Packers received goals from Buster Elkins, Gustavo Zapote, Jose Carranza and Yasmani Santiesban.
The JV Lady Packers could not hold a 2-0 lead and were force to settle for a 2-2 tie.
The goals, scored by Angela Moxley and Margarita Moreno, came off corner kicks by Carley Banks.
Keeper Katie Roberts saved the tie with a save on a penalty kick with 17 seconds left.
The JV girls are 1-2-1.
