4-H shooters perform well

MOULTRIE — Air pistol, BB and rimfire rifle teams representing Colquitt County 4-H recently participated in district and state competitions.

The BB team competed in the Southwest District match hosted by Colquitt County on April 14. The Colquitt County Gold team placed seventh. The team included Megan Culpepper, Austin Hawkins, Michael Holloway, Hanna Morrell, Katie Stanaland, Courtney Williams and Hannah Wisenbaker.

The Colquitt County Black team came in 15th. The team included Brittany Baker, Dustin Brown, Ryan Golden, Riley Lewis, Briane Parrish, Justin Stripling and Turner Tillman.

Megan Culpepper took first place in sitting position, first place in the kneeling position and took first place overall shooter.

Hanna Morrell took third place, prone position and second place overall shooter.

The competition included 23 teams from 11 counties and included 148 shooters.

On May 5, the BB team competed in the state match held at Rock Eagle in Eatonton. Eleven Colquitt County shooters took part.

The Colquitt County team included Megan Culpepper, Austin Hawkins, Michael Holloway, Hanna Morrell, Katie Stanaland, Courtney Williams and Hannah Wisenbaker.

Shooting as individual were Brittany Baker, Ryan Golden, Briane Parrish and Justin Stripling.

The Colquitt County Gold team came in 12th place.

There were 471 shooters from 70 teams in 41 counties at the match.

The 4-H air pistol team also competed in the state match on May 5 at Rock Eagle. The senior shooters were Marcus Holloway, Amber Wiard and Rebecca Loftis. There were 19 shooters competing.

Rebecca Loftis finished third in the senior division. Lakin Mercer was fifth in the junior division.

The Colquitt County shooters were Erin Holloway, Marcus Holloway, Amber Wiard and Rebecca Loftis.

Loftis was third in the telescopic sights division.
