Sisters With A Testimony to celebrate 10th anniversary

MOULTRIE, Ga. —  Sisters With A Testimony — SWAT — will celebrate its 10th anniversary at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, at the Colquitt County Agricultural Building.

“It has been a great pleasure to be able to celebrate being servants to the elderly, our youth and Colquitt County,” said SWAT President Tonita Scott.

The public is invited to Saturday’s celebration, which is free of charge.

The speakers will be the Rev. Fonda Strong Thompson of Albany and Cheryle Neal Reeves of Moultrie.

A native of Moultrie, Thompson is the daughter of the late Luke Strong Jr. and Mary Braggs of Moultrie. She is married to Ira Thompson. She has a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, a master’s degree in human resource management, both from Troy State University, and master’s and doctorate degrees in ministry from Andersonville Theological Seminary.

Thompson has been employed at Open Arms, Inc., a child advocacy center for abused, runaway and homeless youth for 21 years. She is founder and CEO of Fonda Thompson Ministries and is associate pastor of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Albany, where her pastor is the Rev. Daniel Simmons.

Reeves was born and raised in Texas but moved to Moultrie after marrying Roy Reeves. The couple helped to start Heritage Church more than 20 years ago. She was on staff at Heritage for 13 years as the discipleship coordinator, where she was responsible for leading many small groups.

She authored her first book, “Authentic Life,” after developing materials for the church’s curriculum. She and her husband speak at marriage conferences and retreats.

She enjoys offering marriage counseling to newlyweds and couples in crisis, and doing ministry in Honduras.

After retiring from Heritage, Reeves continues to meet with women individually and in small groups teaching the Scriptures and encouraging women to live fully for God’s kingdom purposes.

She and Roy have three children and recently became grandparents.

The theme for Saturday’s celebration is from James 2:18: “But someone will say, ‘You have faith; I have deeds.’ Show me your faith without deeds and I will show you my faith by my deeds.”
