Artists and crafters in Colquitt County look forward to two weekends each year: The openings of the Calico Arts and Crafts Shows.

The bi-annual event is held the second weekend in November each year and the third weekend in March.

Calico showcases the trends of today. This prestigious show has been offering top-of-the-line arts and crafts for over 40 years, and is full of vendors who spend much of the year crafting their items. Spectators can visit the 400 indoor and outdoor booths where there will be a variety of items ranging from game calls, to personalized signs, to holiday décor, and more.

These are just a handful of the exhibits that offer one-of- a-kind crafts. There will also be jams, jellies, funnel cakes, and caramel apples. Gift crafts will include pottery, toys, gourmet food and confections, floral arrangements, hand painted items, painted leather, handmade tools and so much more.

Each visitor will have a chance to register to win the Grand Door Prize.

Site of the show is Spence Field on Highway 133 in Moultrie, Ga. Gates are open from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday, and from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is $5 per adult; and children 12 and under come for free with an adult. Sorry, no pets allowed.
