RV rally coming to Moultrie

Staff reports

MOULTRIE, Ga.—The Monaco International RV Club will hold its spring rally in Moultrie, March 9-12. Monaco International is a member of the Family Motor Coach Association, according to its website. The organization holds rallies in the spring and summer. This year it will be held in Moultrie at Spence Field. The FMCA will hold its rally in Perry, Ga., at the Perry Fairgrounds.

Dick Strzyzewski, along with his wife, are in charge of organizing the event this year. Strzyzewski has been with the group for 16 years and is currently the president of the club.

Stryzewski said that Monaco has no current members from Moultrie.

In order to join the club, potential members have to own a Monaco coach and have to be a member of the FMCA.

The FMCA has over 500 chapters and those chapters range from different groups such as Habitat for Humanity and different religious associations, said Strzyzewski.

Some 80 coaches have signed up to attend the rally and will caravan up to Perry to join the FMCA rally.  Seminars, vendors, crafts, entertainment and caterers are on the agenda for the event.

The event is closed to the public, however they will have some show coaches for sale. Residents of Moultrie are welcome to come view the coaches and purchase one if they wish to do so.

Spence Field has hosted numerous recreational vehicle organizations in past years.

In the early 1970, the National Campers and Hikers Association held its big annual rally at Spence. As well, Air Stream groups have gathered at the former military base on many occasions.
