Two Biddies holds ribbon cutting, open house

TIFTON — Two Biddies, a vintage and new home decor and gift shop, held a ribbon cutting and open house on Thursday, Nov. 21 at the 3020 N. Tift Ave. location.

The two “biddies” who opened the store, mother Faye Brannon and daughter Allison McGriff, used to have a booth inside a store downtown that closed down.

“So we put out stuff in storage and were looking around and looking around,” said Brannon, who McGriff calls the “Queen Biddy.” “One day we drove by this house and said it had potential. Little did we know at the time we were only the second people that made it past the front porch.”

The house was not only in rough shape, it was stuffed full of junk and had vines growing all throughout the interior.

“It took two months just to clean it out,” she said.

They said they had a vision and wouldn’t give up on it, and have wanted to open a store for years.

“We’ve always been like that together though,” said McGriff. “I can remember as a kid every couple of years my mom would either re-wallpaper or repaint and rearrange the entire house, as we always had to help her with it.”

She said that no matter where they lived, they always wanted to redo the house. This location was no different.

“It grew as we were renovating,” Brannon said. “At first we didn’t know what it was going to be. Then we decided to mix in the new and the old.”

McGriff said that they wanted to be able to showcase how items would look in a home, to help people envision how items will look in their own home.

“Then we kind of had the vision that we wanted to have something affordable for everyone,” Brannon said. “So you have different things.”

McGriff said they met a lot of great local vendors and made sure that they featured locals in their shop.

“There’s some great talent in this town,” McGriff said. “Our vendors are incredible. They make things I could never attempt to make.”

McGriff thanked the community members and vendors who came out to support the ribbon cutting.

“We couldn’t have done it without everybody here and the fabulous customers we’ve had,” she said.

Two Biddies is open Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. For more information contact 229-396-4310.
