TC Transcontinental opens plant to Chamber members

TIFTON — The Tifton Tift County Chamber of Commerce’s Business and Education Workforce Committee toured the TC Transcontinental plant, located at 390 Southwell Blvd. on Thursday, Sept. 12.

The plant, which has been in operation since 1978, manufactures bags for a variety of companies to store and ship anything from building materials and chemicals to agricultural products and food ingredients, such as seasonings, spices and sugar.

Chamber ambassadors toured the plant after hearing a presentation about the company from plant manager Bryan Foster.

Donning hair nets, safety goggles and ear plugs, chamber members were able to tour the entirety of the plant

Foster said that he is very proud of the culture in the plant.

“It’s an absolutely wonderful place to work,” he said. “It’s the first place for me in 26 years of working where I can give a true testimony that it’s a family environment. Everybody cares, everybody has compassion.”

Most of the employees have been there for decades, which Foster says is a testament to the great work culture and good salaries.

“We have 130 teammates in the plant,” he said. “Our average tenure across the 130 teammates is over 20 years. We have a lot in the 20 to 30 year range, we have a lot in the 30 to 35, and then our most experienced ones are looking to retire. When you have a plant of 130 people with an average tenure of 20 years, it’s absolutely incredible.”
