Kool Comics robbery suspect in custody
VALDOSTA, Ga. – Arrest warrants were issued on a Valdosta man Wednesday in connection with the Kool Comics robbery that occurred Monday afternoon.
At approximately 1:11 p.m., Lowndes County E-911 received an emergency call from Kool Comics, located at 1515 N. Ashley Street. The caller stated that a lone male had entered with a weapon and began demanding money from the employee.
After taking an undisclosed amount of money, the suspect got into a vehicle and left the area, according to reports. The employee was able to provide the 911 dispatcher of the vehicle description and the tag number of the offender’s vehicle, leading multiple uniformed patrol units to search the area.
Within minutes, the vehicle was spotted in the 1400 block of North Lee Street and, after a traffic stop was initiated, the offender was taken into custody without incident.
The suspect, Darryl Robinson, was taken to Valdosta Police Department Headquarters for questioning by detectives and was later taken to the Lowndes County Jail.
Arrest warrants were signed, charging 50-year-old Robinson with armed robbery, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of crime.
“The Valdosta Police Department commends the tremendous effort by the employee of the incident location. Even though he had just been the victim of a robbery, he maintained his composure and was able to provide the E911 dispatcher with an accurate description of offender and the vehicle including the tag number,” said Valdosta Police Department Lieutenant Adam Bembry.
