Rants and Raves
MOULTRIE, Ga, —
Good move
“I for one think it’s great that local government is stepping up to the plate with incentive money to try to get a major industry here. Incentives are the game rules these days and if you’re going to play in this ballpark you’ll buy into our future or you’ll sit back and be a spectator. As someone pointed out, the community will get this money back in a relatively short period should we get such a major industry.
Suggestion
“Colquitt Regional has done much to make our hospital better except for one thing. Our urologist is only part time. If there is an emergency on the days he is not here, such as kidney stones, you have to go to another hospital. We need a full time urologist to have a full service hospital.
Observation
“Medical School: First of all we need to make sure the emergency room doctors are in network with the major insurance companies. Colquitt Regional Emergency Physicians, LLC is separate from the hospital. The leaders need to address this problem. Many people are experiencing problems with being turned over to credit collectors. CRMC should give contracts to in- network companies.
In response
“I don’t work for the city nor do I know the circumstances that brought about the intermodal facility. It’s here. I choose to admire its design. Others may choose to be angry.
Applause
“Just imagine if we can get the medical school and a major industry with higher wages. This would be a real coup for Moultrie. Thanks to all of those involved in pursuing these projects.
Food for thought
“With reference to children being mistreated at church. As we know, children can be cruel to one another and parents need to step in an teach some serious lessons on that account. As well, some adult personnel and church leaders and play favoritism to some children and tend to ignore others who may not be as popular. I’ve seen that happen. And that is not the way of Christ. Whoever brought this up has provided some good food for thought.
On target
“Your editorial is right on target. Potential industry will look at what’s already going on in a community and that does reflect ‘attitude.’ So yes, aesthetics are major issues when it comes to selling a company on a community. After all, some of their key executives will be living in the community so they have a direct connection of cause and effect to that attitude.
Smoking issue
“I have no problem with government not hiring people who smoke or either charging them more for health insurance. It’s a matter of health, expenses and productivity. How does anyone who smokes three packs a day get anything done anyway. That’s lighting one right after the other.
