Pack drops second game in Kentucky
MOULTRIE — Senior guard Rashawn Melvin scored 23 points, but the Colquitt County boys basketball team dropped its second straight game in the Citizen First Classic on Tuesday in Bowling Green, Ky.
Melvin’s total was half of what the Packers were able to score in the 63-46 loss to Rossview High of Clarksville, Tenn.
The Packers opened play in the tournament on Monday, falling to Louisville-Eastern 68-52. Melvin had 15 against Eastern and is averaging 19 points a game in the tournament.
Andrew Wallace had 14 points on Tuesday and is averaging 12 points in the two tournament games.
Also on Tuesday, Eugene Woods added five points, Dannie Hunt and Orion Ponder had two points each and Duke Banks had a free throw.
The Packers will play again at 9 this morning against Frankin-Simpson High of Franklin, Ky.
They also will play again later today.
The loss drops the Packers to 3-2 on the season.
The Packers will return following today’s games and prepare for the first Colquitt County Roundball Classic, which will run Dec. 28-30 at the Gladys Espy Gymnasium.
Among the boys teams in the tournament are South Miami; Boyd Anderson of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; Washington County; Jeff Davis; and Westover.
The Packers will meet Boyd Anderson High at 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 28.
