Students to experience ‘Teen Maze’
DALTON, Ga. — Life is full of chances and opportunities. Some of them are positive and some of them are bad. Wouldn’t it be great to see a bad choice through to the end, to learn about it and how to make a better choice in real life? That is the goal of the fifth annual Teen Maze. The event is an interactive educational opportunity for tenth-grade students from local high schools. Organizers say Teen Maze provides a safe and controlled environment for students to face the consequences of randomly selected lifestyle choices often associated with risky youth behaviors. The maze is designed as an interactive “Game of Life” where students see the consequences of life choices in a hands-on, realistic and educational way. The program’s goal is to increase students’ understanding of personal responsibility and the importance of making positive life choices. More than 2,100 tenth-graders from Dalton city and Whitfield and Murray County schools will take part in the event at the North Georgia Fairgrounds Monday through Friday. Scenarios include underage drinking, driving under the influence, texting and driving, and teen pregnancy. Teen Maze is a collaborative effort sponsored by Whitfield and Murray County Family Connection, in partnership with Dalton Public Schools, Murray County Schools and Whitfield County Schools.
