Robbery suspects return to Moultrie

MOULTRIE, Ga. — Three suspects charged with armed robbery in Thomas County were returned this week to Colquitt County to face charges in an October hold-up in Moultrie.

Officers on Friday brought Dontavious Tyriq Jenkins, Rafael Spindola Merritt and Isaiah Dishawn Thomas back to their home county for an arraignment hearing.

They had been in custody in Thomas County since they were arrested there in December.

The three men, all of whom are 20, have each been charged with aggravated assault, armed robbery, kidnapping and false imprisonment.

They were arrested on Dec. 8 in Thomas County — by Colquitt and Thomas County sheriff’s deputies with help from other agencies — after a robbery earlier that night at the Dollar General store in Pavo. A juvenile male, who is not a suspect in the Moultrie hold-up, also was arrested in connection with the robbery in Thomas County.

Jenkins, Merritt and Thomas are accused of the Oct. 13 robbery of the Camilla Road Dollar General store in Moultrie. They are accused of forcing a store employee from the parking lot back into the store, where money was taken from the safe.

Akivie Bailey, 20, was arrested in December in Colquitt County. He also is accused of taking part in the Oct. 13 robbery in Moultrie. In addition to the four charges the others face, Bailey was charged with an additional count of armed robbery.

In addition to participating in the store robbery, Bailey is accused of robbing at gunpoint a store employee who was trying to run away.
