Seventh-grade basketball teams get wins

Staff Reports MOULTRIE — The Colquitt County seventh-grade basketball teams swept Thomas County Middle School on Tuesday at the Willie J. Williams Middle School gymnasium.

The seventh-grade girls won 28-25, avenging a loss to Thomas County last week. D’Zeriyah Polite led Colquitt County with nine points. Nyleigha Knighton and Jamya Moore each had six; Talisa Edwards had four; and Ameris Johnson had three.

The seventh-grade boys defeated Thomas County for the second time in the early season, winning 31-14. Ty Lamar led the seventh-grade Packers, scoring 13 points. Nick Pace and Lakeem Harper each had four; William Madison and Stefan Reynolds each had three; Jumeir Pridgen scored two; and Chad White and Neko Fann each scored one.

Both teams also won home games on Monday against Northeast Middle School of Tifton.

The seventh-grade girls won 24-16. Polite scored nine; Johnson had five; Moore and Ranijah Boatwright each scored three; and Knighton and Edwards each had two points.

The seventh-grade boys defeated Northeast 35-16. Lamar led the Packers with eight points; Ny’Quavion Carr had six; Harper had five; Fann had three; Reynolds, Pace, White, Landen Thomas, Jerron Blakely and Markese Wilson each had two; and Kenyon Solomon and Antonio Stafford each had one.

The eighth-grade girls fell to Thomas County 46-39 on Tuesday. Carliss Johnson led the Lady Packers with 23 points. Gabbi Long added six; Madison Plymel and Akaysha Studstill each had four; and Alexiya Barge had two. The eighth-grade girls also lost to Thomas County Central 47-29 last Thursday at home. Studstill had 12 points, Johnson had eight, Plymel had seven and two points.

On Monday, the eighth-grade Lady Packers got their first victory of the season, defeating Northeast of Tifton 42-33. Johnson had another big game, scoring 27 points. Playmel had five; Studstill and Za’Niya Green each had four; and Mattie Jo Rigsby had two points.
