Man traps underwear-clad suspect in storage building

MOULTRIE, GA. — Whether nearly naked prowlers were in season probably was not a consideration of a Colquitt County resident Monday morning when he trapped a boxer-clad man in his metal building.

Anthony Campbell and his employee kept the door closed to the storage building at his residence in the 400 block of Blasingame Road until a deputy arrived around 2:40 a.m. Monday and arrested the suspect.

Campbell told police that as he pulled into his home at about 11 p.m. Sunday he saw the man, later identified as James Edward Kastelic, standing at his back gate  dressed only in a pair of underwear. Campbell instructed him to wait until he parked his semi-truck, but after doing so the man had scampered out of sight.

After calling employee Chad Mims over they searched for a while and then went inside to do work-related paperwork. Not long after that they heard a sound outside and a person talking.

They heard a commotion coming from the shed that sounded as if someone was moving the items around inside.

When they investigated they saw Kastelic in the building and Mims blocked the door to prevent him from fleeing.

Kastelic told police that he was with another man who had told him that he owned the shed.

After putting Kastelic inside a patrol car deputies searched the area but did not find any other suspects around the property. The report said Kastelic had a brown belt hanging over his back.

Kastelic, 46, 1265 Doc Darbyshire Road, was charged with misdemeanor counts of loitering/prowling and criminal trespass.

For Kastelic it was his second arrest in less than a month as he was charged on March 21 in connection with trying to flee from officers in a car. The driver, thought to be Kastelic, wrecked the car and successfully eluded officers that night on foot.

He has a previous conviction from 2010 in which he served four years in prison after being convicted on charges of fleeing or attempting to elude police officer and habitual violator.

He was convicted in 2016 on a charge of possession of methamphetamine and received a seven-year probation sentence.
