Board of Education achieves Exemplary Board Status

MOULTRIE — At the December Board of Education Board Meeting, Superintendent Dan Chappuis announced that the Colquitt County Board of Education once again received Exemplary School Board status from the Georgia School Boards Association. The recognition program showcases best practices in school governance and leadership.

GSBA recognizes school boards dedicated to creating a culture of advancing student learning and achievement. The Colquitt County Board of Education met and/or exceeded the criteria set forth by GSBA to earn the honor of a 2024 Exemplary Board.

Board Chairman Hayden Willis shared, “I want to thank the Board Members for their commitment to accomplishing the distinction of being named an Exemplary Board. In real terms, this means that our board members don’t just show up once a month for a meeting. To achieve this recognition, we are working together throughout the year to place an emphasis on student achievement and employing best practices to find solutions that work for this community’s needs.”

In addition to the recognition, Superintendent Chappuis and Chairman Willis recognized the contribution and years of service of outgoing board members Jon Schwalls, Kevin Sumner, and Mary Beth Watson. Chappuis shared, “We are thankful for the service of these board members. Together, they have dedicated nearly 30 years of service to the students and community. They have profoundly impacted the education system and the community’s future.”
