MOULTRIE, Ga. – The Moultrie-Colquitt County Economic Development Authority recently announced it has selected a new president after a nine-month search.

Barbara D. Grogan, a Norman Park native, will start her tenure as president of the Development Authority on Monday, May 13. She currently holds the title of executive director of the Sumter County Development Authority, where she has served for the last six years.

Grogan returns to Moultrie with more than 10 years of experience in economic development, displayed through her role in Sumter County and with the University of Georgia Archway Partnership, an organization dedicated to fostering development and facilitating interaction between communities throughout the state and UGA.

“I am excited about the opportunity to return to my hometown, and I greatly look forward to joining the Moultrie-Colquitt County Development Authority and economic development community,” said Grogan. “Moultrie is a thriving, growing community, with great potential to continue expanding and providing job opportunities for citizens. I look forward to sharing my skills and experiences to see continued success.”

Before her career in economic development, Grogan held various positions over an eight-year period supporting congressional representatives such as Sen. Saxby Chambliss and Reps. Bob Inglis, Max Burns, John Linder and Paul Brown.

In addition to her work, Grogan regularly participates in professional development opportunities. She has participated in programs such as Leadership Sumter, served as a panelist at the Gulf South Summit on Service Learning and Civic Engagement Through Higher Learning, and has received certifications in economic development through the International Economic Development Council and the Carl Vinson Institute of Government.

Grogan received both her Master of Public Administration and Bachelor of Science in Family and Consumer Sciences degrees from the University of Georgia.
