1. Banged-up Morrill pitches Bulldogs into playoffs
Morrill played through some serious pain to help the Suwannee baseball team make it to the state playoffs. With a huge contusion on his left shin, Morrill pitched a complete-game four-hitter with 12 strikeouts to lead the Bulldogs past Baker County 2-1 on May 1. He drove in both of Suwannee’s runs in the district semifinal. It was Morrill’s performance in this game that allowed Suwannee to play for a district title and also go on to the postseason, where the Bulldogs won their first playoff game since 2011.
