Home Depot crew makes repairs to Moultrie home

MOULTRIE, Ga. — Volunteers with Home Depot’s Warrior Outreach assembled in Moultrie Thursday, June 8, to make repairs to the Brandi Drive home of Joyce Burns. Burns’ husband, Carlton, served in the Army from 1979 to 1982. The couple had planned improvements to the property, but he died in 2015 before the work was done. About 40 volunteers from Home Depot stores in Moultrie, Albany, Valdosta, Cordele and Dothan, Ala., installed a new door, siding, and a washer and dryer, and did landscaping work.

 

 Neck and back pain seminar to be held at CGTC

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. — Coliseum Northside Hospital will offer a free seminar on the causes and treatment of neck or back pain in Milledgeville at 6 p.m. Thursday. Spine surgeon Dr. Ryan Schnetzer will discuss the causes of neck and back pain and the non-surgical and surgical treatments that can help alleviate pain. Schnetzer is a fellowship-trained spine surgeon who received his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia School of Medicine. He is currently on medical staff at Coliseum Northside Hospital. The seminar will be held at Central Georgia Technical College’s Milledgeville campus in the Health Sciences Building, Building H, Conference Center Level 1 (54 Highway 22, Milledgeville). School system seeks feedback

DALTON, Ga. — Parents and community members have two opportunities on Thursday to provide ideas and feedback about the District Improvement and Parent Involvement plans for Whitfield County Schools. Wiregrass slates free application day

VALDOSTA, Ga.  — Prospective students can get a free step up for one college. Wiregrass Georgia Technical College will accept new student applications for fall semester on Free Application Day, June 22.   Any new student who applies in person June 22 will have the application fee waived, according to a school press release. Free Application Day will be held on the Ben Hill-Irwin campus, Coffee campus, Cook County WDC campus, Moody Air Force Base extended campus, and the Valdosta campus from 7:30 a.m.-6 p.m.  Fall semester classes begin Aug. 17. Students applying for fall semester have several new programs to consider. New programs include an associates of science degree in general business on Valdosta campus, air conditioning diploma on Ben Hill-Irwin campus, and a Barber II technical certificate will be offered on the Ben Hill-Irwin, Valdosta and Cook campuses, acvcording to Wiregrass. The last program allows students to complete the barbering courses and sit for the state barbering license. The Coffee campus will add evening classes to the industrial systems technology program. Wiregrass has 24 programs that qualify for the HOPE Career Grant. Students enrolled in the programs could qualify for additional monies to help pay for college.  For those applying for financial aid, there is a priority date of July 10 if applying for fall semester.
