Pair hide beneath clothes; deputies find them anyway
MOULTRIE, Ga. — A Colquitt County couple’s attempt to hide from police by covering themselves with piles of clothing didn’t fool law enforcement on Tuesday and resulted in both going to jail.
Just before 8 p.m. two deputies arrived at the 1277 C.S. Powell Road, Omega, residence of Alan Scott Jones Jr. to arrest him on an outstanding warrant charging him with endangering a security interest.
As one officer knocked on the front door, the second officer saw a man’s head emerge from the back door and then disappear back inside. When he checked the back door it was locked and he heard movement inside the house.
The officer used a photo to identify Jones as the person he saw at the back door, police said. The deputies again knocked and informed anyone inside that they had an arrest warrant for Jones, and that he and anyone else in the residence would be arrested for refusing to open the door.
Eventually the officers forced open a door and searched the residence. They found Jones in the bedroom hiding under a pile of clothes on the floor, police said. Ashlee Renae Johnson was found under a pile of blankets in the same bedroom.
Police charged both Johnson and Jones with obstruction of a police officer.
