Two women charged with giving false information to officers

MOULTRIE, Ga. — Two women accused of giving false information to police officers were arrested on Monday in separate incidents in Moultrie.

According to police, a 20-year-old woman appeared to be under the influence of some substance when she was located after a construction worker reported that she got into his work truck in the 1100 block of West Central Avenue Northwest.

Robert Coleman, who contacted police at around 1 a.m., described the woman as a black female wearing a white T-shirt, black tights and white tennis shoes.

At a nearby business, police found Erica Michelle Wright, who matched the description given. When approached by the officer, Wright was “smiling and giggling about the situation” but backed away from the officer and did not want to speak with him, police said.

After maneuvering Wright to the back of a patrol car, the woman identified herself as Erica Ray and a birth date of July 30, 1998, police said. Neither the name given nor the birth date were correct.

Wright, 400 First Ave. S.W., was charged with giving false information or date of birth to a police officer.

At about 4:33 a.m. Monday, a Moultrie officer made a traffic stop on a 2007 Toyota Tundra near the intersection of First Avenue Southeast and Veterans Parkway. The officer made the stop because the truck had a broken tail light, police said.

When the officer asked for the woman’s name, she replied that it was Adrianne Rogers. A second officer recognized the woman as Alyssa Gail Lewis,

When asked why she gave an incorrect name, Lewis told the officer that she did it because her license is expired.

Lewis, 23, 2962 Old Doerun Road Lot 2, was charged with giving false information or false name to a police officer, tail lights required and expired driver’s license.
