GC women’s basketball’s McGriff earns All-PBC honors

GREENWOOD, S.C. — Junior forward Alyah McGriff (Suwanee) of the Georgia College women’s basketball team was named to the All-Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Second Team at the year-end banquet at Lander University.

McGriff had a breakthrough season for the Bobcats, averaging 15.1 points and 8.0 rebounds per contest. Her scoring was 11th in the PBC, with her rebounding average eighth. She finished second in the league in blocks with 50, and shot 52.2 percent from the field, good for sixth in the league standings.

She had six double-doubles this season, and scored 20-plus points on eight different occasions, including 30 at Young Harris College.

McGriff brings in the 39th All-PBC honor in GC women’s basketball history.

The Bobcats finished the season in the first round of the PBC Tournament on Feb. 25 in a loss to Lander University. McGriff had another great game with 23 points and five rebounds.
